Agnis Smallwood is a Yorkshire based Designer, Maker, Researcher, Educator passionate about creating spaces which enable people to engage and explore with materials directly for themselves.
When making with others, she often uses traditional craft techniques as a collaborative way to experiment and enquire through making. Her passion is textiles, specifically weaving. Agnis has delivered workshops in many different settings, within communities, schools, museums and galleries as well as within hospitals and for businesses. As well as facilitating workshops she designs and weaves her own products for home interiors along with wearable accessories. Agnis studied in Contemporary Applied Arts at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, graduating in 2009. She has fond memories of traveling along the Settle-Carlisle Railway as a student between Carlisle and home in Leeds. She has since graduated with an MA in Artist Teachers and Contemporary Practices, from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2017.
Settle Stories is thrilled to welcome Agnis back to Settle after working with her in our 2017 Creative Summer School.
