A focused study and practice of voice. This workshop will strenghten and underpin your future work as a storyteller and performer.
Join Olivia Olsen, teacher at London's Central School of Speech & Drama and the International School of Storytelling. She will show you how your story is dependent on your voice and the way you craft language. The story and its connection to listeners is also dependent on your body and movement as messenger. What you speak not only resonates in space but affects people through the feeling and presence of your whole body. This intensive workshop foregrounds the learning of voice skills in conjunction with movement so as to feel and understand how images and actions take occupancy in you. When this occurs your voice vibrates with colour and trueness. Your body is an instrument that can be opened out and it is also a resource for creative rendering.
Please wear loose layered clothing, no belts, skirts or tight pants. You will be working in bear feet or socks. You will be using a blanket that we will provide for the floor work. If you'd rather bring your own yoga mat or blanket that's not a problem.
This workshop is part of our year long course in 2017 The Storyteller's Art - Do the full course for £135 (save £40) or £35 per workshop.
