Festival

Record-breaking number of story lovers flocked to our biggest story festival ever!

With over 50 events for adults and families, the 2016 Settle Stories Festival was the biggest ever. With a record breaking number of sell out events and larger audiences than ever before, the festival was a HUGE success. The event was enjoyed by local audiences and visitros to Settle who came from as far north as the Isle of Sky and as far south as Devon.

People loved the programme this year. It was more diverse than ever before. Whether you we're into your traditional oral storytelling, comedy, music, ceilidhs, craft, ceramics, enameling, walking or politics - this year's festival had so much on offer people just couldn't help but find at least one event that appealed to them.

One local person said 'We've loved Settle Stories since it started in 2010, it's been fantastic watching it grow and I'm excited about it's next move.' A visitor to the area remarked 'The Settle Stories Festival is now one of the top storytelling festivals in the UK. This being our first visit, it has truly exceeded our expectations. We've also discovered a truly beautiful area and will be back for both walking holidays and future festivals.' Feedback from a younger audience member 'I'm going to be a storyteller when I grow up and tell epic stories from across the universe.'  Whilst, artists and volunteers are insisting Settle is the new home for storytelling in the UK with one professional storyteller commenting on the festival 'I have to say, it's been truly outstanding!'

A huge thank you to all the local support we get from businesses, sponsors, volunteers and all the people who go above and beyond to make the festival happen. It's thanks to all of them that the festival was our best ever and such a success.
