Could you be a creative writer?

Ever thought you’re not capable of writing?

Creative writing is an art. The art of making things up. It's writing done in a way that is not academic or technical but still attracts an audience. Though the definition is rather loose, creative writing can for the most part be considered any writing that is original and self-expressive.

A news article, for example, cannot be considered creative writing because its main goal is to present facts and not to express the feelings of the writer. While a news article can be entertaining, its main purpose is to present the facts.

The purpose of creative writing is to both entertain and share human experience, like love or loss. Writers attempt to get at a truth about humanity through poetics and storytelling. If you'd like to try your hand at creative writing, just keep in mind that whether you are trying to express a feeling or a thought, the first step is to use your imagination.

Types of creative writing include:

-Poetry

-Plays

-Movie and television scripts

-Fiction (novels, novellas, and short stories)

-Songs

Settle Stories is running a six week online course, Your Hero Journey. Take yourself on a transformational journey through your own creative writing. You will be guided to explore your relationship with the world. The course invites you to look deeply into who you want to be. It will help you make sense of your life through the medium of traditional tales and develop your creative writing.

Traditional stories have survived for generations, in some cases for thousands of years. This is because they provide a psychological template for personal growth & resilience. They help us face challenges and learn to deal with trauma.

Your Hero Journey invites you to take that template and apply it to your life experiences. No previous writing experience is necessary. You will be guided through the program using online materials including online group mentoring.

This course is offered at a heavily discounted rate of just £30 for the 6 weeks. By participating in this course you agree to take part in the evaluation and provide feedback as required.
